Let me share some of the filaments I've personally used and found incredibly helpful on my 3D printing journey. I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses whenever possible, but in this case, I've turned to online shopping since there aren't any nearby stores that carry these specialty materials. I'll keep updating this list as I come across more reliable brands and unique filament types — from PLA and PETG to silk, wood, and glow-in-the-dark. PLA (Polylactic Acid) is best for decorative items, toys, and prototypes thanks to its incredible ease of use, eco-friendly nature, and sweet smell with no fumes — but it melts in a hot car, can be brittle, and is best suited for beginners despite those weaknesses.

Bulk deals

Elegoo PLA+ Works great for my projects that I like to paint. The finish is buttery smooth compared to the other filaments that can be shiny.

Reliable, easy, and smooth — SUNLU PLA filament works beautifully for beginners and pros alike.

Kingroon Triple Colour Silk PLA. It is a really solid pick for that gorgeous, shimmery look on a budget. The colour transitions are beautiful, for artistic, show-off pieces (think vases, or ornaments).

I get this pack when I can't make up my mind on single rolls.

Gratkit Matte filaments are beautiful to print with. These printed beautifully with no issues, great bed adhesion, no stringing and beautiful subtle colour shifts with a faint pearlescent shimmer.
